About New Forest Basics Bank

New Forest Basics Bank provide food and basics for people in need across the New Forest.

The Basics Bank offers non-perishable food items, personal hygiene items, and basic household essentials. The food parcels have sufficient supplies for one week for one person and is increased to cover the number of family members for which a request is made.

There are many reasons why people may find themselves needing the support of a food bank. For example when the main earner in the household looses their job, a medical condition, a change in personal circumstances or a large unforeseen bill that leaves inadequate or no money for food. All parcels are a stop gap to support clients through troubled times.

Learn more about Lasting Powers of Attorney

Tony, a semi-retired local professional who runs LPA's For Locals, offers a weekly drop-in every Monday between 10.30am to 12 noon at The Bridge.

Here local residents can get a free information and advice service on Lasting Powers of Attorney.

The idea is simply to make Lasting Powers of Attorney more easily understood, more accessible and more affordable to local people.

He will explain the importance for us all of having LPA’s in place, how they work, the choices available, why it's never too early and the implications for all involved if we don't have them or simply leave it too late.

There are two types of LPA. One for Financial decisions (includes property) and one for Health and Care decisions.  Both are equally important as we focus on living life for today, but with an eye on making tomorrow easier for everyone in our family or friendship circle should difficulties arise.

If you would like any free information or guidance in the meantime, please contact Tony below.

New Village Post Office Opens on Tuesday

Milford on Sea is soon to get a new Post Office Branch in the village. The new Post Office will be located inside of One Stop at 49 High Street, Milford on Sea from 1pm on Tuesday 8th October 2024.

Anyone with mobility issues can access the post office counter, and shop, via the rear entrance, which can be found at the end of the alley to the left of the main entrance.

The current Mobile Post Office Van Service visiting in Sea Road Car Park on Fridays & Saturdays will cease from Saturday 5th October 2024.

--------------------------------
Previous Post Offices in Milford on Sea

Our last dedicated Post Office Branch, run by Sue Hearl, closed towards the end of May 2016. This had been at 35 High Street, Milford on Sea, SO41 0QF.

As well as a Post Office Counter, the shop sold wool and haberdashery items alongside cards and stationery.

Today the building is occupied by Milford Cards and Gifts.

The Post Office introduced a Mobile Post Office Van Service from 23rd July 2021. The van visited each Friday from 2.15pm to 4.15pm, and on Saturdays from 11.45am to 1.45pm, and was situated in Sea Road Car Park.

The Mobile Post Office service ceased on 5th October 2024, when a new Post Office Counter was about to open in the One Stop store in the village.

Many years prior to this, around 1910, a Post Office has been located at the east end of the High Street.

The building no longer exists, but it was next door to where Milford on Sea Club is today.
