Free Seafront Community Family Fun Day on Easter Monday

The High Tides and Good Vibes Community Family Fun Day on Easter Monday 21st April 2025 from 11am to 3pm. Entry is free.

The venue is on the Seafront Green next to Milford Bowls Club.

Community Organisations in Milford on Sea have come together to make a special free family day out.

This special event will have lots going on and will feature games, craft, poetry trails, music and dancing. 

Also, enjoy Zumba with Karina, music from Reeds in Harmony, an adults and children’s poetry trail by the team at Milford Library, and Wings will be running an information stand about 'Rare ground-nesting Birds Using Hurst Spit'.

At 12pm and again at 2.30pm. Joli Vyann will be performing 'Life’s a Beach'. Their unique style of dance/ circus fusion the work will be familiar, nostalgic and funny. (40 minute presentation.)

The show is an interactive, fun and playful observation of family life at the beach. Life’s a Beach is a joyous, if not a little chaotic window into a day at the beach.

Milford on Sea Bowls Club Open Day 2025

Milford on Sea Bowls Club is holding their annual Open Day on Wednesday 23rd April 2025 from 10.30am to 12.30pm - and everyone is invited.

Go along to find out more about this friendly Club, and have the chance to try out the game for yourself. 

Shoes, bowls and coaching provided.

About Milford on Sea Bowls Club

The bowls club was founded and has been a prominent feature of the village since 1933, and members enjoy playing bowls and participating in numerous social events

Located on Milford on Sea seafront, the green boasts one of the finest vistas on the South Coast with stunning views of Christchurch Bay, the Isle of Wight and The Needles. 

Such is the draw of the location that the club attracts members from New Milton, Barton and Lymington areas in addition to Milford on Sea and Everton.

The Club’s Green has 6 rinks which are amongst the finest in the area.

The outdoor playing season runs from early April until late September. The mixed membership has Club roll-ups on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

The club compete in both the New Forest and Bournemouth and District Ladies’ and Men’s Leagues and are a member of the Hampshire County Bowling Association. They also host “friendly” matches with clubs from further afield. In addition, they have club matches, providing both a social and friendly competitive atmosphere for their members.

During the Autumn & Winter months, the players enjoy indoor short mat bowls played in the clubhouse.

A team of accredited coaches are always ready and willing to provide support, whether to a new rookie bowler or to perfect the skills of an experienced league player. These facilities are provided free of charge to members.

The club also have a very active calendar with regular club social events throughout the year, both outdoors and in the clubhouse building. 

There is also a licensed bar available for the use of the members and their visitors.

New members always welcome.

Open to the Public

Locals and visitors are invited to give bowls a go on some days of the week when there are no league matches, competitions and/or special events taking place. 

Shoes and bowls available to hire. You can see the weekly timetable on the club's website.

An experienced bowls player will be on hand to explain the game and give you tips.

If you would like to play on the bowling green, please speak to the Duty Steward at the club, who will be able to help you.

Choralia Milford presents The Crucifixion by John Stainer

Choralia Milford will be performing The Crucifixion by John Stainer in All Saints Church, Milford on Sea, at 2.30pm on Saturday 19th April 2025.

Following their popular February concert 'I got rythm' at All Saints Church, local chamber choir Choralia Milford is delighted to be invited to return there for a presentation of Stainer’s Crucifixion.

The Crucifixion is a well-known and moving musical meditation on the Sacred Passion of the Holy Redeemer, which is performed as an oratorio for a four-part vocal arrangement of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass voice (SATB) choir and organ composed by John Stainer in 1887.

The choir will be led by Musical Director Phil Daish-Handy, accompanied by Leigh Jerwood and players from Nova Foresta Philharmonic.

There will be a retiring collection for the church’s Bell Tower Fund.

About Choralia Milford

The Milford on Sea based chamber choir was founded in September 2021. Since then, the choir has grown in strength musically and in number, and now comprises of some 40 members.

The choir specialises in complex music and also lesser known works, and repertoires include a broad range of secular and sacred music, both classical and and modern, often sung a cappella. Concerts take place predominantly in Milford on Sea and nearby towns and villages. 

Musical Director, Philip Daish-Handy.
 Philip has entertained audiences across the world. He first came to prominence after winning the prestigious Music at Beaulieu Competition, leading to important scholarships, performances and several recordings. Philip founded and is Artistic Director of the Nova Foresta Classical Players. 

Since being appointed as Choralia Milford’s Musical Director, Philip has led some memorable performances. He is also delighted to hold additional conducting positions with the Lymington Choral Society and Voices of the Forest.

Café Modial live at The Gun Inn on Easter Monday Lunchtime

The Gun Inn will have live music from Café Modial from 1pm on Easter Monday 21st April 2025.

Café Modial are a three-piece jazz band featuring accordion, guitar and double bass, and they will be playing mellow, café-style jazz in the garden beer tent.

Saxocracy at JAM Next Week

This month’s guest at JAM is Saxocracy on Friday 25th April 2025 at 8pm in The Bridge.

“Saxocracy” is a new nine-piece band formed in late 2024. It was inspired by the Charlie Parker tribute band ‘Supersax’, which performed harmonised arrangements of Parker’s improvised solos using five saxophones, accompanied by a three-piece rhythm section, to which we have added guitar and trumpet.

The musicians have many years of experience, you will see some familiar faces on stage! We will be showcasing the sound of the saxophone section, some of the Supersax catalogue, and a variety of original pieces arranged specifically for this line up; all with plenty of opportunity to highlight the improvisation skills of our soloists!

Messy Church for the Kids at Easter

On Good Friday 18th April 2025 from 10:30am to 11:45am kids are invited to enjoy the free Messy Church in All Saints' Church Hall.

The morning will explore the events of Holy Week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday through story, crafts, games and other activities in and around All Saints' Church and Hall.

The morning will conclude by walking together to Milford Green for an outdoor Good Friday service by Christians Together in Milford & Everton, before enjoying Hot Cross Buns.

The activities will be led by volunteers from the church with parents/carers and children taking part together.

Please sign up so the team know how many to cater for and if there are any allergies etc.

Please include all adults and children that are likely to attend with you.

The Go Go Five often include a Motown Revue as part of their uplifting, inspiring and truly exciting show…but frankly, anything can happen on the night.

The band will be joined by 2 excellent guest singers at this energetic night full of classics: Suzy Mac and Roy Gayle.

Classical Music, Opera, Chamber, & Jazz at Milford-on-Sea Recorded Music Society

If you enjoy classical music, opera, chamber, or jazz, you will be warmly welcomed at the Milford-on-Sea Recorded Music Society.

The friendly group meet in Milford on Sea Community Library on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month except August. 

The gatherings start at 2.30pm until 4.45pm with a break for tea & biscuits.

Spring Craft Fair on Saturday

The Spring Craft Fair will take on Saturday 5th April 2025 from 10am to 1pm in Milford on Sea Village Hall in Park Road.

The fair will feature local businesses and makers of quality artisan products, items will include jewellery, printed garments, greeting cards, crafts, hand-made products, and more.

Free entry, just go along and take a look.

Local bead jewellery maker, and oganiser of the Spring Craft Fair, Liz Gates is always on the lookout for artisan makers.

Any artisan craft maker would be considered, in particular it would be nice to have Needlework, Woodwork, Bath bombs and Candles, Chocolate, Resin arts, or Doggie treats & accessories.

WI Homemade Cake and Produce Sale Next Weekend

The Milford on Sea WI Homemade Cake and Produce Sale will be held on the Milford on Sea Village Green from 9am on Saturday 12th April 2025. 

All the proceeds will be donated to our charity for this year which is Honeypot - a charity that offers respite weekends for young carers between the ages of five to thirteen.

Cakes and jams made by the WI are of course legendary, and now will be chance to get some!

Please go along, meet the ladies at the Homemade Cake & Produce Sale, and purchase their amazing selection of cakes and jams for charity.

PS: I love cake, so you will probably find me at the front of the queue!

The WI Knit & Natter ladies are also busy making bees for the children at the Honeypot Charity.

About Honeypot Children's Charity

The charity support children who are young carers to a sick, disabled parent or sibling

They provide a range of continuous services that meet the multiple needs of each individual child. This includes Respite Breaks, Educational Booster Breaks, Wellbeing Grants, Healthy Eating and Nutrition and Pastoral Support.


Ukraine Experience Fundraising Afternoon on Saturday

A group of Ukrainian friends in the village are Ukraine Experience Fundraising Afternoon from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday 5th of April 2025, in All Saints' Church Hall.

Money raised will go towards an evacuation vehicle for wounded soldiers.

Experience Ukrainian culture and traditions with authentic homemade Ukrainian cuisine, an exhibition, a market with handmade crafts by Ukrainian women, and a creative workshop.

There will also be a charity raffle with fantastic prizes.

About The GO GO FIVE

Jazz, blues and rock musician Ivan 'Chuck' Chandler moved to Milford on Sea in April 2016. 

By the time Ivan was 20, he was playing keyboards for Dusty Springfield, Lulu and Cat Stevens. He went on to hold senior management positions in the music industry including 8 years at Motown International’s London office in Mayfair. He formed his own Music Copyright & Licensing company, Musicalities Ltd, in 1994, and then seven years later, he founded The Go Go Five.

The band’s co-founder Jonathan MacDonald has played guitar for the Jamiroquai, Madness and Brand New Heavies. 

The GO GO FIVE play a mix of Motown, 1960s Soul, Jazz and Rock & Blues at regular gigs in many venues, including Milford on Sea.
