The Red Lion is reverting to its original name and reopening its doors at 6pm today, Thursday 3rd July 2025.
This follows the unexpected closure of The Lazy Lion on the 23rd September 2024, since when the building has stood empty and forlorn.
After weeks of hard work, new landlord Andy Gallagher, who many may know from his time at The Cave, is delighted to be reopening this historic village landmark.
To celebrate the reopening, Butchers on the Green is holding a BBQ in the pub garden on Thursday evening.
There will also be live music in the garden with Paul Denson between 7pm and 8pm.
We understand that the plan is to revert to a traditional village free-house pub serving classic pub food, rather than offering restaurant-style dishes.
This is welcome news for the village, and we wish Andy and his new venture all the best.
