New Yoga Classes with Lucie at Ocean Soul Yoga

Lucie from Ocean Soul Yoga is a Milford on Sea-based yoga teacher who offers two yoga classes on Fridays in the Guide Hut in Sea Road.

Yoga classes with Lucie, from Ocean Soul Yoga

10:40am - 11:40am “Go with the Flow”

Class description: This class focuses on foundational movement and allows time to explore modifications to suit your practice while incorporating that heat-building vinyasa flow style.

9:20am - 10:20am “Power Flow”

Class description: Vinyasa style, powerful heat-building flow offering a multi-levelled approach to practice, giving opportunity to explore fun sequences often sprinkled with inversions and arm balances. Whilst this is not a typical beginner class, modifications are offered throughout, and all are welcome.

Both classes are a welcoming, judgment-free zone. You do not need to be able to touch your toes to join either class; you just need to be open enough to move and connect with your body, mind, and breath. A similar structure will be found at both classes: grounding breathwork and gentle movement, followed by some heat-building vinyasa flow style sequences into standing and balance postures, winding down with slower openers, and always ending with a relaxing savasana.

Please bring your own mat and props if you have them. If you need to borrow equipment, please get in touch.

The Ocean Soul Yoga Classes are taught in a vinyasa flow style, meaning movement with breath. This often continuous flow of movement makes for an invigorating practice, and adds to the rewarding feeling during savasana, a relaxed supine pose which is used to bring every practice to a close.

For more information, or to book upcoming classes, please contact Lucie on 07514 604104 or lucie@ocean-soul-yoga.com.

Milford on Sea Parish Council recommends refusal of potential new Tesco

Milford on Sea Parish Council has recommended refusal of the planning application for the new convenience store on the Keyhaven Road.

New Forest District Council has already received over 450 objections to the development, in addition to some in favour.

At a recent Milford Parish Council Planning Committee Meeting, the Village Hall was packed, with many people outside who could not get in.

The outcome of the presentations and discussions was to object to the proposal.

The application is suspected to ultimately be for a Tesco Express store, but this is not stated on any submitted planning documents. However, Tesco has previously advertised a Store Manager position for a new Tesco Express store on Keyhaven Road, Milford on Sea.

Milford on Sea World Champion starts Beach Sprints Rowing Season

Reigning rowing World Champion in the Coastal Junior Mixed Doubles, Sol Chamberlain-Hyde, kick-started his 2025 Beach Sprints rowing season in early May at the Welsh Senior Championships in Fishguard, Wales.

Sol, 17, from Milford on Sea, took a chance of rowing up over his years to compete in the senior event, which was full of the most successful GB team athletes, namely Jerry Owen, Gregor Hall, Cameron Buchan and renowned Austrian rower Iurii Suchak.

Sol raced an excellent time trial, finishing fastest across the board in a time of 2 minutes 43 seconds; two seconds ahead of second position Jerry Owen. The second round saw Sol beating Harry Holme by half a minute and finishing with the third fastest time. Narrowly missing out on lane choice by just 300ths of a second left Sol in the far trickier and substantially more windy Lane 2 for the quarter finals, meaning a win for his competitor, Tom Mitchell and a knockout for Sol. The disparity in the wind conditions of the two racing lanes played havoc all day, with no athletes successfully winning their heat when placed in Lane 2. Given those conditions, Sol was thrilled to have achieved the fastest initial time trial time and the fastest racing time in Lane 2 throughout the day.

The Welsh Senior Beach Sprints Championships is part of British Rowing’s Four Nations Series, with racing held in Wales, England, Jersey, and Scotland throughout the summer season.

Sol jointly won the junior title last year with fellow GB athlete Xavier Jebb from Christchurch Rowing Club. Deciding to compete in this senior event ahead of the junior series launch has not only added positively to Sol’s Beach Sprints experience, but has left him currently in joint second place with Gregor Hall on the Senior men’s leaderboard, with six points each.

A proud member of Lymington Amateur Rowing Club, Sol recently triumphed at the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships, securing a gold medal in the Yr13 category with a 2k time of 6 minutes and 27 seconds and the fastest time overall across over 8,000 competitors.

Whilst juggling the next few weeks of ‘A’ Level exams at Peter Symonds College in Winchester, the ex-Priestlands student has an exciting year ahead of him.

Sol is training hard and aiming once again for GB selection and the opportunity of being on the British Rowing U19 team. Sol was part of the GB Team last year and competed successfully at the World Championships in Italy, winning gold, gaining a silver medal at the prestigious Coupe de la Jeunesse in Spain and placing fourth at the European Championships in Poland with rowing partner Leah Saunders.

Whilst his coaching is covered by British Rowing, in order to facilitate his travelling to represent Team GB, Sol has to self-fund and is always looking for sponsorship opportunities.

Please Support Sol: You can make a donation to help support Sol, be it small or large, from an individual or indeed sponsorship from a company.

Simon moves from Para Table Tennis to Pickleball

Simon Heaps has officially announced his retirement from International Para Table Tennis, but that is not the end of his journey.

From 2022 to 2024, Simon represented Great Britain, on a self-funded basis, and won 17 table tennis medals in Para-competitions worldwide, including in Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Over this period, Simon raised and spent more than £100k, and he would like to personally thank each and every person who has donated to his cause and supported him both financially and emotionally, acknowledging that he could not have done this on his own.

Simon has now decided to end this chapter of his life. With many great memories comes just one regret.

British Para Table Tennis had agreed that he could undertake this journey on a self-funded basis. However, Simon has said he has never received any recognition from them and little support.

His experience is more detailed on his Facebook page. Please click here.

Simon's journey doesn't end here. When one door closes, another invariably opens, and he now plans to compete in Wheelchair Pickleball.

He has set himself the target of winning a medal in his first year at the three big UK tournaments: the English Open, Welsh Open, and English Nationals.

To do this, he needs to raise £1,500 to buy a specialist 2nd-hand wheelchair; otherwise, he can’t compete. Simon currently has one on trial, and donations can be made to help him make a purchase.

To learn more about Simon, support, or donate, please click here or contact him directly.
