More wool needed under privileged kids gifts please

At the beginning of this month we asked if anyone had some wool to make some of the gifts for under privileged children this Christmas.

The response was excellent, and ladies have been busy knitting, so much so that they have now run out of wool and would like some more please!

If you have any wool you can donate, please contact Jean on writingfanatic@outlook.com and she can arrange to collect, or let you know where the wool can be dropped off.

Wine tasting is tough, but someone has to do it!

Mine host and owner of The Cave, Jon Crouch went to extraordinary lengths on behalf of his customers this week when he attended the Hatch Mansfield's annual Autumn Portfolio Wine Tasting!

The wine tasting event celebrated the fine wine company's 30th anniversary, and took place on Monday 16th September 2024 in a magnificent Georgian building at 116 Pall Mall in London. This historic building was built in 1828 and is also home to the Institute of Directors.

Invited guests from the trade and press had the chance to taste a wide range of wines and champagnes from the Hatch Mansfield's premium portfolio, they also got to meet some of the producers.

Apparently, autumn is considered the best time for wine tasting because it's the season for harvest hues and new releases.

Professional as always, Jon indulged in the wine tasting using the Multisensory Tasting Technique. This is Sight: Observe the wine's colour, clarity, and legs. Smell: Take a deep sniff of the wine to detect its aromas and bouquet. Taste: Sip the wine to experience its sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

After each glass, Jon of course then used the spittoons - or that's what he told me!

The sacrifices Jon makes to find new wines for his customers is truly magnanimous!

Why not pop in to hear his experience of the day, and try a glass or two of the fine wines that The Cave have to offer.
