Families will warmly welcomed with Free Entry to the World Monuments Watch Day at Hurst Castle on Saturday 21st September from 10am to 5.30pm to celebrate the castle being nominated for the World Monuments Fund.
There will also be a Children’s Art Competition.
This will be a day of fun and activities for children, including heritage trails, arts & crafts, musket-firing by the Fort Cumberland Guard and other re-enactments, talks by heritage and wildlife experts, and exhibitions.
With free entrance to the castle and all activities, there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained including:

Children’s Art Competition on Watch Day 2024
English Heritage and World Monuments Fund are holding a children’s art competition to celebrate Hurst Castle and coinciding with the Watch Day of activities on Saturday 21st September 2024.
The theme of the competition is 'Hurst Castle and Me' and is open to local primary schools.
There will be two age groups: Early Years + Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
Two prizes will be awarded as follows for each age group:
- First Prize: Family ticket to any English Heritage Property. Plus English Heritage teddy bear (worth £20).
- Runner-up: English Heritage teddy bear (worth £20).
