Award News from No64 Biscuit House

A message from Clare at No64 Biscuit House in Milford on Sea high street. Just as they win one award, they are now nominated for another:

Hi all!

Well, it’s been a whirlwind month here at No64 Biscuit House and guess what, thanks to so many of YOU, voting for us, We won the Muddy Stilettos Award for the Best Interiors Store in Hampshire & the IOW!

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry when we found out and, as I’m well aware, it couldn’t have happened without your support and so thank you, from the very bottom of my heart!

Next month is when we receive our trophy, but I couldn’t wait to tell you, oops!

Then, as if like buses, one of you nominated us for another award, one we didn’t even know existed if I’m to be perfectly honest! There’s such a touching story behind the award though, as you’ll read, and so we’d like to ask you to vote for us again, please?

The award is for Outstanding Customer Service; voting is quick & easy and closes on Sept 6th. Just click this link and you’ll be whisked away to where you can read about the award, and vote (all you do is select ‘No64 Biscuit House’ from the drop-down list and press ‘Submit’): To vote: Please click here.

I feel a little cheeky, asking you to vote for us again; we didn’t ask to be nominated though but as we have been, I feel I ought to try to get Milford on Sea on the worldwide stage (the award doesn’t just cover the UK)!

Thank you again, for your wonderful support, don’t forget to come and see us soon, at your award-winning village store!

Clare xx

Stunning Full Moon at Hurst Lighthouse

Graham Wiffen has yet again caught a stunning scene in a photograph. This time it is of the full moon (August Sturgeon) on the 22nd August rising over Hurst Lighthouse with the hills of the Isle of Wight in the background. The moon glows a deep orange colour due to the sun shining through the Earth's atmosphere.

Graham's image was show on TV's South Today and also appeared in other media, which of course it thoroughly deserves to!

Pensioners Lunches in Milford on Sea

We have been asked if there is anywhere in Milford on Sea that does a weekly lunch for pensioners as a social gathering.

There is of course the First Friday Lunch at the Community Centre which is now happening again on the first Friday of each month. Click here.

Ray's Italian does 'Vulnerable Wednesdays' where diners are asked to wear masks when dining. Click here.

Apart from that, we are not aware of any pub or restaurant which invites pensioners on a specific day to get together, meet new people and enjoy a lunch.

If anyone knows of anything else that takes place, please let us know and we will pass the information on.

Art Exhibition in the Keyhaven Scout Hut

The annual Art Exhibition in the Keyhaven Scout Hut is now open every day 10am to 4pm until the last day on Bank Monday 30th August(The Scout Hut is in the car park opposite The Gun Inn pub).

It is probably no surprise that the natural beauty of the Milford on Sea coastline and surrounding countryside creates inspiration for many local artists. For most of the year they are hidden away quietly creating works with their brushes and this is the time of the year they emerge to show us the results of their efforts.

The exhibition is Free Entry with refreshments available in aid of Keyhaven Sea Scouts.

The event features local artists;
Shaun Stevens a well-known local scene artist, Wood Turner, Graham Turner who also does Pyrography workshops, Sue Page who makes individual items of jewellery and sells gem stones, crystals etc., and Tessa van Hasselt who specialises in and sells her oil paintings and cards.

Just pop along to view the art and if you fancy, many pieces are for sale.

PS: 'Art on the Green' is on Saturday & Sunday (21st  & 22nd August) from 10am to 5pm. Discover original paintings for sale from 25 local artists.

Natural beauty in Milford on Sea

On a local walk Derek Batterbee, a volunteer for Milford Conservation Volunteers, captured this enchanting image of a deer in full flight. The photo was taken at the end of Keyhaven Road looking into the farmers field with Hurst Spit in the mid-background.

Another great example of the natural beauty of Milford on Sea.

Stunning Milford on Sea Calendar launched

Local retired semi-professional photographer, Graham Wiffen who is well known for taking stunning pictures of the beauty around the village has launched a calendar for 2022.

As Graham explains:

"I am happy to announce that I have launched my 2022 Calendar and it is available to pre-order.

After a number of you asked me last year to do one, this is my first calendar, so am offering this in limited numbers but I will be making a donation to Oakhaven Hospice from any profits generated from the sale.

The calendar includes a range of images from across the local area of the New Forest National Park.

It includes a few of my own favourites and hopefully some of yours too but mostly includes those which you have shown interest in through social media over the past year. I trust you will enjoy looking at it hanging on your wall.

Since the start of the pandemic I have been posting regularly to try and bring something positive into your lives, especially for those who have been isolating or spending much more time at home. My aim was to bring a smile, some colour or simply some joy into all our lives over the past 18 months or so. Thank you to each and every one of you who have liked/commented/shared my images and especially to those who have expressed thanks for the pictures and how they have helped you in this difficult time. I hope the calendar will do the same over the next 12 months when you look at the images.

The calendar is professionally printed on high quality card and provided with a gloss finish, so will look great hanging up at home. It is spiral bound across the centre fold, with an A4 landscape glossy photo above and an A4 landscape month-to-a-view calendar page below. The page also includes some background information on each shot.

The calendar is now available for pre-order and should be ready to ship in September. The cost is £9 plus p&p and at the moment I am only offer shipping to the U.K. If you would like International shipping, then please drop me a message and we can work something out.

I hate to mention this but Christmas is on the way and they will make great stocking fillers or just simply presents for friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your interest."
