Christmas Dining in Milford on Sea

Milford Art Group Awards

Back in August, the Milford Art Group held their very successful art exhibition in All Saints Church Hall, Milford on Sea, and at their AGM on Thursday 7th November 2024 the Prize Giving took place.

Awards were presented to many talented artists by Milford on Sea Art Group Committee Chair, Judith Dancer to:

Best in Show: Jackie Marshall for ‘Portland’.
Best Watercolour/ink: Cathy Beggs for ‘Study for a Dandy’.
Best Mixed Media: Janet Penny for ‘Cromerty Firth’.
The Len Ayres Trophy (The ‘People’s Choice’ voted for by visitors to the Exhibition): Miggy Flux.
The Colin Christmas Trophy (Voted for by visitors to the Preview Evening): Sylvie Jennings for ‘Hever Castle’.

Highly Commended: Alan Langford, Maureen Tait, Miggy Flux and Sylvie Jennings.

The committee were also delighted to announce that Miggy Flux and Tony Clegg were awarded Honorary Life Membership of Milford Art Group, in appreciation of their long term services to the group.

The afternoon also featured a raffle, refreshments and a quiz run by Jan Hawker.

About Milford Art Group

Milford Art Group were founded in 1973 and they celebrated their golden anniversary in 2023. The group has around 85 full members and 30 associate artists who gather to promote art skills, knowledge, and fellowship and to arrange periodic exhibition of their work.

The artists meet on the First Thursday of each month from 2pm to 4.30pm in All Saints' Church Hall to enjoy demonstrations by professional artists of art in framed pictures of landscape, still life, seascape and portraiture in diverse materials including oils, acrylics, water colour, pastel, inks, mixed media and more.

Visitors are welcome to these demonstrations for a small fee.

When the weather permits, they also meet on Milford Green for a couple of hours on Wednesday mornings to paint and chat.

Milford Art Group hold an annual two-week exhibition at the beginning of August in All Saints' Church Hall where members exhibit and sell their paintings to the public.
