Captain Crackers and The Curiosities back at The Gun Inn

The ever popular local band, Captain Crackers and The Curiosities will be once again playing at The Gun Inn on Wednesday 22nd January 2025 from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. 

The evening of live music will also feature World Gone Wrong and Caroline & Dave.

Captain Crackers and The Curiosities are known for their unique brand of musical comedy and it sounds like this will be a unique evening of music and mayhem!

If you are coming just for a drink there is no need to book. Tables for dining will be limited so please call, email or book online to reserve a table for dinner.

Earlier this year, Captain Crackers and The Curiosities released a new track called 'The Ice Cream Lady Song'. 

The song is inspired by Debbie, owner of Milford on Ice, the ice cream van at the Crabbing Bridge in Milford on Sea.

Enjoy Nordic Walking in Milford on Sea

If you would like to try a different type of healthy walk with a friendly group, Suzanne Madden offer Nordic Walking in Milford on Sea and across The New Forest.


For the past twelve years, residents of Milford on Sea and surrounding areas have been enjoying the benefits of Nordic Walking which is one of the world's fastest growing fitness activities, and is a great way of improving or maintaining fitness. 

There are regular dog friendly walks that include the Milford on Sea coastline and Keyhaven. 

Non members are welcome on a pay as you go basis.

However, it is not simply a case of grabbing a pair of poles and walking with them! It requires the correct technique in order to get the whole body working and it is essential you learn this from a qualified Instructor who will ensure you get the full benefit and fastest possible results. 

There are some Nordic Walking 'Free Taster Sessions' and 'Learn to Nordic Walk Courses' coming soon that you might like to join in with:

Learn to Salsa with Danie

Join in the Beginner, or Improver Salsa Classes and learn to Salsa with Danie.

The classes are friendly and supportive, with small numbers so that you get more attention and plenty of time to ask questions. It's not just about learning to dance but being part of a community. We regularly go to a local pub for a drink & chat after class.

For those who have done salsa before, Danie teaches LA/NY Cross body style salsa.

The classes are held in the Dance Studio at The Bridge and run weekly on Fridays:
  • Beginners; Fridays 7.15pm to 8.15pm
  • Improvers; Fridays 8.15pm to 9.15pm
Suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience of salsa.

No partner needed. £8 for one class, £12 for both, pay as you go. New members always welcome to join in.


Learning Salsa is a great way to meet new people and get moving to high energy music.

Option to head to the pub together for a drink after class.

My aim is to help people gain the confidence and technique to enjoy dancing salsa, while creating space to have fun and forget about life's challenges for a little while. As someone new to the area I'm also looking to meet new people and I've learned that salsa is one of the most fun ways to do that!

Flooding on Manor Road New Housing Development Site

On the 31st December 2024 we published an article about the consultation on the Manor Road Housing Development closing for feedback today, Monday 6th January 2025. 

Ironically, part of the proposed site was subject to flooding after heavy rain this weekend.



The development plans to deliver 170 new homes, including 85 affordable homes in a range of types and tenures, along with large areas of new public open space.

The building is by local housebuilder, Pennyfarthing Homes, and planned to be called the Swallowfield Park housing development. 

We are unaware of the range of flood risk assessments that we assume have been carried out, and hope that the developers have a viable flood solution in mind. 

Should any flood risk not be resolved, this could cause issues for future new home owners.

Charity Football Match raises £1000 to fight Crohn's Disease

Last Monday, the charity match, in aid of Crohn's and Colitis UK, saw Milford on Sea Youth FC parents and managers play Highcliffe Hawkes parents and managers. 

The event was sponsored by The Beach House and Christchurch Harbour Hotel, and a cracking game ended in a 7-6 win to the Highcliffe Hawkes.

Event organiser, Adam Humphreys said: "We were delighted to raise over £1000 thanks to the support we had from the local community and sponsors.

What an amazing turnout from everyone, and big thanks to our friends (and rivals) in William Walsh and Mike Green for getting a Highcliffe Hawkes team together for this to able to happen.

Warm thanks also go to Jimmy Sheppard, Michael Crowther, AJ, Sophie Garner, Lee & Sarah Woodcock, and my amazing other half Megan Hynd for that little bit more. A special thanks go to Ralph 'aka Ryan Sheps' for what can only be described as one hell of a clearance, my brother, Josh Humphreys for one of the best own goals to ever be scored!, and all of the 19 Milford guys who took the time to come out and lace up their boots, much appreciated!"
