Tickets on sale for Journey of the Magi

Christians Together in Milford on Sea and Everton has invited Springs Dance Company to present the show, Journey of the Magi, which is a sparkling production of dance, theatre, song and poetry for all the family.

The show takes place on Sunday 24th November 2024 at 6:30pm in All Saints’ Church, Greenbank Close, Milford on Sea SO41 0SG.

Journey of the Magi is fast-paced, brilliantly witty performance inspired by T. S. Eliot’s poem of the same name. The performance offers a contemporary comparison between the quest of the wise men 2000 years ago, and our own preparations in the run up to Christmas.

With a soundtrack to keep toes tapping and a feast of dance and drama, Journey of the Magi delights audiences of all ages.

Come and join in for a chance to laugh, reflect and refocus this Advent.

Sir David Bintley CBE is quoted as saying; “Forget The Nutcracker, Springs Dance Company's Journey of the Magi is the best Christmas show I have ever seen! I went along to see it one dark, wet and dismal night in Birmingham and I came out having been touched, amused and moved to tears. Journey of the Magi looks beyond the tinsel and trappings and reveals the real meaning of Christmas.”

Tickets: £8 for adults. £4 for children. Available from The Bridge Box Office on 01590 644861 - or book online by clicking here.

The meeting will take place from 3.30pm to 5pm next Tuesday 29th October 2024 in The Bridge.

At the meeting there will be a 20 to 25 minute presentation followed by a Question & Answer Session, and then time for individuals to liaise with the team after.

Wessex Internet have said that having full fibre to the property has no installation costs to the customer.

No need to book, just go along.

The meeting will be hosted by Wessex Internet

About Wessex Internet and Ultrafast Broadband

Wessex Internet is bringing full fibre broadband direct to homes and businesses in Milford on Sea and surrounding areas later this year early 2025.

Connectivity to fast, reliable broadband is being made possible due to the government-funded Project Gigabit contract. This three-year project aims to provide lightning-fast gigabit-capable broadband to hard-to-reach communities across the New Forest.

Wessex Internet has been at the forefront of bringing full fibre broadband to rural and underserved communities in Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Somerset. Properties will benefit from full fibre connections, which is also known as Fibre to the Premise (FTTP). This means a fibre optic cable goes all the way to a home or business directly from the provider’s network, rather than stopping at a cabinet down the road, which is known as Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC). Full fibre delivers far superior speeds and reliability compared to copper or partial fibre networks.

If you haven’t heard of Wessex Internet, they are an independent Dorset-based internet provider, who have built their own future-proofed fibre network and who specialise in bringing ultrafast broadband to rural areas. They have over 9,800 local customers and provide friendly, human support from their HQ in Blandford.

We would encourage anyone who hasn’t yet registered their interest, to do so now, so that they can be connected as quickly as possible when the service ‘goes live’. It will take a few minutes to enter your details online or to give Wessex Internet a call, a member of the customer service team will talk through the options available.

To register your interest please visit:
www.wessexinternet.com or call 0333 240 7997.

Land to be sold next to Milford on Sea Community Meadow

It is understood the land directly next to the Milford Community Meadow is to go on sale for £100,000.

The Community Meadow, just beside All Saints' Church, was opened by Milford on Sea Parish Council when hosting a village picnic on Saturday 22nd June 2019.

The meadow was bequeathed by the late Diane Gillespie, a generous Milford on Sea resident.

The legacy was in two parcels of land, one made to the Friends of Christchurch Priory, the other to Milford on Sea Parish Council on condition that it should remain an open space to the benefit of the community.

In December 2022 The Friends of Milford Meadow were pleased to report that following significant local objection, a planning application by Bayview Developments to build a four-bedroom house on  the Friends of Christchurch Priory land close to the Community Meadow was refused.

Friends of Milford Meadow
November 2022
It is understood that over the last two years the Parish Council has had several meetings and communications with the Priory about the future of the Meadow - not least about the unmaintained state of the land.

At a recent meeting, the Friends of the Priory were encouraged to let the Parish Council know what they envisaged for the land and it was emphasised that the Parish would like first refusal on buying the meadow, but would need time to raise the money with community involvement.

Subsequently, we have been informed that the land will be offered by tender via Goadsby Estate Agents in Bournemouth with a guide price of £100,000. The tender period is likely to commence in November 2024.

It is also understood that the Priory intend to erect a fence of ‘up to 2m’ to define the boundary around land. The original transfer document stipulated that the boundary should be defined by a shallow clear ditch. The Parish Council has always resisted this because it felt that a ditch could be dangerous. The fencing work could start around the 30th October 2024.

The Priory also wished that the Parish Council would designate a path through their land so that they would have ‘more flexibility’ in how they could use the site. We understand that the Parish Council do not wish to alter the terms of the granted right of way.

The future of the site is set to be discussed at a meeting of Milford Parish Council on Monday 21st October 2024 at 6.30pm in the Village Hall, Park Road.
