News from the Greening Campaign

Milford on Sea households will shortly receive a Greening Challenge Card which will be delivered with the Village Voice.

To support our local Greening Campaign households are asked to commit to 5 of these challenges and display the logo side of the card in a window by the 10th December.

You can register to accept the challenges by using the QR code on the card or by dropping the card off at the Parish Council Office by the 21st January. The group can then calculate how much CO2 has been saved by the community.

Should you need them, more cards are available from the Parish Council Office.

Climate Change & Milford on Sea Meeting

The Milford on Sea Greening Campaign will also be hosting an open 'Climate Change & Milford on Sea' Meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 1st December at the Community Centre.

Everyone is welcome to go along.

Poster Competition

There were over 30 entries and on the 19th November these were judged by Sir Desmond Swayne MP. Sir Desmond took away a number of cards written by the children to give to Boris Johnson.

The winning poster is displayed across a number of shops and Notice Boards across the village.

Do you love cheese?

Some of you may know talented Milford on Sea cake maker Mandy Black of Elmsleigh Cakes. But, do you know that she also runs The New Forest Cheese Cake Company? They do not make 'cheesecakes', but rather cakes made of cheeses!

As Mandy explains; "Christmas is well on its way and we have some exciting news. For 10 years we have been making wonderful celebration cheese boards, on a huge scale but this year we have the opportunity to make cheese boards that can be enjoyed at home over the festive period.

These will include the same amazing cheeses we use in our large towers but without you needing 100 guests to eat it all. The cheeses will be portioned and packaged in these beautiful reusable jute bags (with a cool pack), with pickle and crackers. All you need to provide is a plate, a knife and your appetite.

These are individually designed so we can cater for any number of guests. We are taking pre-orders to see if there is an interest in providing these. As much as we love cheese, our family cannot eat just cheese over Christmas."

Please contact Mandy to register your interest by clicking here, or through Facebook and she will be happy to help.

Punchy's Autobiography completed by friends

In April 2014 we published an article entitled; 'Punchy Through the Covers' about the life and times of Alan Rayment a former Hampshire county cricketer, latterly a dancer and a resident of Milford on Sea. Click here to read.

The Advertiser & Times this week reported in an article by Chris March that Alan had sadly died in October 2020 aged 92.
