About The Lighthouse

Situated on Milford on Sea seafront, The Lighthouse is an independent & relaxed seaside bar and restaurant serving up fresh, local dishes throughout the day seven days a week, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Fuel Hair Mechanics move to centre of village

Fuel Hair Mechanics have been in Milford on Sea since October 2018, and they have recently moved to a newly refitted shop in the centre of Milford on Sea high street.

Previously located at 61 High Street, Simon and his team of Zoe and Nick can now be found at the foot of the village green at 48 High Street, Milford on Sea, SO41 0QD.

Fuel Hair Mechanics are a full service barbershop that have embraced the changing face of male grooming, offering a range of services from precision cutting and styling, to beard shaping and traditional hot towel shaves.

Zoe is a senior hair technician, and Nick, a classic barber who offers a discount for emergency services and military personnel.

Owner and master barber, Simon moved to Lymington in 2014 where he set up, and added his own unique touches, to a successful barbershop franchise. After progressing the business to new heights, it was time to bring his exclusive brand Fuel Hair Mechanics to life in 2018.

Simon has created creative and eclectic interior designs in both his old and new the barbershop. The new barbershop features a Honda motorbike, a Mark Knopfler signed guitar, a signed CD by Joe Strummer, Americana memorabilia, American car number plates, and many other curiosities that can be found adorning the walls.

Fuel is the perfect place for gentleman to relax, enjoy complimentary beverages including freshly ground coffee, soft drinks, or even a beer, whilst listening to eclectic music and being expertly looked after by master barbers that are setting the standard for male grooming in the New Forest. 

The barbershop has been very well received since establishing in Milford on Sea, with an ever-growing fanbase both in the village and from further afield, bringing new trade into an already bustling village.

Enjoy Tapas dishes in The Cave

Most locals know that The Cave serves an exceptional selection of wines, gin, cocktails and draught beers, but did you know they also have a tasty tapas menu?

If you enjoy this traditional small plate Spanish dining, The Cave is ideal for a relaxed, value for money meal, or snack, over a drink or two.

The kitchen at The Cave are now serving food on Mondays through to Saturday from 12pm to 8.30pm.

Mark wins New Product Award at Glee Garden Trade Show in Birmingham

Local businessman and Milford on Sea resident, Mark Nineham for the first time, attended Glee, a trade gardening exhibition, in Birmingham from the 16th to the 18th September 2024. To his delight, two of his products gained recognition in the Glee New Product Awards at the show.

The first was the Siroflex Home and Garden Kit, the second the 'Eco-flow' Water Saving Tap Adaptor. 

Both products were shortlisted for a category award and Mark had to face, and present the product benefits to, the judges in a 2 minute Dragons Den style presentation. He then had to take any questions they had.

The outcome was that Mark was delighted to discover later in the day that their Siroflex Home and Garden Kit had won its category.

The judges were impressed with the 'Eco-flow' Water Saving Tap Adaptor, not just for its environmental benefits, but also that you could use the adaptor to connect your outside garden hose, even if you didn't have an outside tap. The kit also includes a soft aerated sprayer for washing down pets. The versatility of the product, and the water saving aspect, were commended highly.

Mark commented: “This is our first time exhibiting at Glee. We've bought the products from all over from Italy and we're just over the moon that one of products won. We were advised to enter the awards, and we have come out winners!”

The products originate from Italy, and Siroflex are also a family business. They were founded in 1963 and invented the first plastic hose connector.

Mark provides the products on his website and through Amazon.

Bespoke Cupcakes from Bonnie at Nauti Treats

Milford on Sea is blessed with talented cake makers, and now we would like to introduce you to another one, Bonnie of Nauti Treats.

Bonnie moved to Milford on Sea with her family just over three years ago, and prior to this had a career in brand strategy with BBC Worldwide and Macmillan Cancer Support in London.

Having a long-time passion for baking and a young daughter, it felt like the natural next step for Bonnie to start her own cake making business, and this is how Nauti Treats was born.

Bonnie specialises in custom cupcake orders, from Winnie the Pooh-themed christening cakes to gluten-free and dairy-free dark chocolate birthday cakes. Each cupcake is crafted not only to suit dietary needs but to enhance the celebration, adding a personal touch that elevates the entire experience. 

Whether catering for large parties or intimate gatherings, she takes pride in helping her clients create the special moments they’re after. She has even recreated wedding cupcakes for a special vow renewal. 

Nauti Treats have a 5-star hygiene rating, and Bonnie is also able to accommodate various allergens, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a Nauti Treat without worry.

Bonnie's experience with allergen-friendly baking began at home, as her daughter couldn't have dairy until she was two, and her mother-in-law follows a gluten-free diet. Baking with allergens in mind has since become second nature.

Ocean Soul Yoga

Lucie from Ocean Soul Yoga, is a Milford on Sea based yoga teacher who runs Vinyasa Flow Yoga Classes in the village. 

Newcomers are very welcome.

The classes take place on:
  • Monday evenings from 6pm to 7pm at The Bridge, and on: 
  • Friday mornings from 9:30am to 10:30am in the Guide Hut, Sea Road.

The Ocean Soul Yoga Classes are taught in a vinyasa flow style, meaning movement with breath. This often continuous flow of movement makes for an invigorating practice, and adds to the rewarding feeling during savasana, a relaxed supine pose which is used to bring every practice to a close. 

You do not need to be experienced or able to touch your toes to join this class, just a willing desire to move up and down and around the mat in a fun and judgement free zone!

Milford on Sea Club retain the Tony Tillet Memorial Cup

Milford on Sea Club were once again the proud winners of the Tony Tillet Memorial Cup on Friday 27th September 2024.

Twice a year, Milford on Sea Club play New Milton Conservative Club at skittles for the trophy, and they were delighted to win the match and return home with the cup they had won the last time the two teams played.

The team participants were, Charmaine Edney, Clair Slade, Andy Gell, Carol Field, Jackie Walker, Rhonda, Alan, Phil, Chris, George, June, Mike, Brad, Joe, Caroline, Alex, Chloe, Will, and Sam. 

The last match was played two years ago at Milford on Sea Club on Friday 27th October 2023. The club ran out as winners with the team of Charmaine, Andy, Clair, Carole, Marc, Chloe, Finley, George, June, Chris, Mike and Jackie.

There will be another rematch next year, and our village club will be looking to retain the trophy yet again!

New Argentine Tango 4 Week Beginners Course

A new Argentine Tango 4 Week Beginners Course is starting on Monday 14th October 2024 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm with practice until 9.30pm and then tea and coffee after. 

The classes will be held in All Saints Church Hall, Milford on Sea and taken by Tracey. 

If you would like to get your dancing shoes on, it is £10pp for drop in's on the night, or you can book in advance and get the 4 weeks for £36.

Everyone welcome, no partner required. 

Enjoy learning this beautiful dance with Leonardo Acosta, an Argentinian from a Tango family who together with his partner Tracey, teach the authentic, improvised Argentine Tango as danced in Leo’s native Buenos Aires!
