"Goodbye Mr Blue Sky" is a wistful song reflecting on the fleeting nature of childhood and the selective beauty of memory, tinged with the nostalgic echo of ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky," a chart hit during the writer's youth. The lyrics depict a gentle departure ("When night comes around, you know I won't be here") and the feeling of naturally moving on.
Referencing "Mr. Blue Sky" ("Goodbye Mr Blue Sky, I remember it so well, always seems better, than it really was"), the song explores how past experiences are often idealised in retrospect. The imagery of wandering "dusty roads" and a faded love ("my love for you is gone") illustrates the individual journeys and evolving connections that come with time.
Ultimately, "When Night Comes Around" offers a poignant reflection on the passage of time and the quiet acceptance of change, deeply connected to personal childhood memories and the enduring soundtrack of "Mr. Blue Sky."

Next was the song, Converse Universe which explores the theme of isolation and the challenges of connection.
Converse Universe is about how the metaphor of "orbiting worlds" represents individual realities that may intersect but often remain separate.
The lyrics convey a sense of melancholy and longing, suggesting the difficulty of finding lasting connection in a vast universe. The song's repetitive structure and melancholic tone contribute to its emotional impact, leaving the listener with a sense of introspection and contemplation about the complexities of human existence.

About Captain Crash & The Magic Hats
The band were born after a 2012 jam session with local musician Pauly Gordelier.
Their two demo albums blend bluesy rock with 60s/70s influences, adding psychedelic flair and ethereal melodies. Imagine The Smiths jamming with Lou Reed or Pink Floyd with Radiohead whispering in their ear.
Their music carries an ecological message, but the raw passion and storytelling truly resonate. This is music for the soul, straight up and authentic.
Darrell 'Crash' Kennedy is the band's singer/songwriter & rhythm guitarist, and Greg, the drummer, both live in Milford on Sea.
Crash works as a community nurse, Greg is a drum tutor with published books for special needs kids
