Daily from Saturday 20th July 2024 to Saturday 1st September:
Royal Dog Hunt Trail: Running for the whole of the summer holidays, complete the trail and win a reward! There is plenty to keep the whole family entertained at the castle whilst also learning about some famous Royals and their dogs!

Every Tuesday throughout the Summer School Holidays: 11am to 4pm:
Tudor Tuesdays: Enjoy Tudor themed activities, learning about the Tudor period whilst in a Tudor castle!
Henry VIII will be visiting the castle and causing much merriment on the following Tuesdays: 23rd July, and 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th August – be sure to greet him with respect or who knows what he’ll do!

Every Wednesday throughout the Summer School Holidays: 11am to 4pm:
Wildlife Wednesdays: Learn about the wildlife that calls Hurst spit its home! With experts joining weekly from either Bird Aware Solent, Freshwater Habitats Trust, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Trust, New Forest National Park Authority and Wings Wildlife Heritage – there’ll be lots to do!

Every Friday throughout the Summer School Holidays: 11am to 4pm:
Fun Fridays: Families can have some fun with our outdoor toys, activities, dressing up and the resident face painter can add some sparkle with free face painting.

Lighthouse Tours of the Grey Lighthouse
The grey lighthouse is located inside the castle, and the guided tours are run by volunteers from the Association of Lighthouse Keepers. It's a wonderful experience and the knowledgeable volunteers provide a truly unique tour.
Enquire at the ticket office on arrival to get booked on. Please call in advance to confirm the Lighthouse Tours are taking place.

About Hurst Castle
Hurst Castle was built between 1541 and 1544 by Henry VIII as one of a chain of artillery defences protecting key ports and landing places around southern England from continental attack. This Tudor castle was also a prison for King Charles I in 1648. At the heart of Hurst Castle is the Tudor fort and you can discover the interesting history of the castle over the years when you visit.

- A Local Resident Annual Pass is available for people living locally to Hurst Castle
