Meet Bernie: New Chair of Milford on Sea Parish Council

At a recent Milford on Sea Parish Council Meeting in June 2024, Bernie Bennett was elected as the new chair of the Parish Council. 

Former chair, Anne Cullen announced at a prior meeting that she intended to step down from the role as chair. Anne has now agreed, and been elected to the position of Vice-Chair.

Bernie is an ex-mariner whose profession is in oil spill response and preparedness. His work time is now spent running his own independant emergency response consultancy company.

 

Prior to this, his spent time as the North Sea Crisis Manager for BP, where he was responsible for the effective response to emergency situations. He has also worked with fishermen's organisations and oil and gas operators in the North Sea to co-ordinate fishermen claims, and he has been involved with many industry committees. 

Bernie is also a member of Milford on Sea Bowls Club, and enjoys travelling, photography and computing. 

He is now looking forward to working with the Parish Council in his new role.
