Iain, The Lazy Lion's effervescent and popular landlord, is taking on a Tour de France Stage Challenge this summer in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The ride will on the same route as the 20th stage of the Tour de France, between Nice and the Col de la Couillole. This is an extremely challenging 138km ride with more than 4,600 metres of ascent, including the daunting climbs of the Col de Braus, Col de Turini, Col de la Colmiane and Col de la Couillole.
The ride organisers make it very clear how tough this will be for everyone taking part: "Prepare rigorously for the 2024 edition of L'Étape du Tour de France, which promises to be one of the most demanding of the 31 previous editions. The 4,600 metres of positive ascent spread over the 138-kilometre route will put you to the test. You need to be perfectly prepared for this challenge."

Iain commented: "As you all know I do silly things for charity quite often. Well... I think I have finally gone too far this time! I am going to do the Etape du Tour de France. This involves riding 138km from Nice to Col de la Couillole, 4 category climbs, and the final 20km climb at a 7% gradient!
I will be riding for Macmillan Cancer Care, a very worthwhile endeavour, but I have to be honest I am a little apprehensive and training like mad."
Iain and his Lazy Lion Team has lots of fundraising events coming up to support his fundraising such as quizzes, a charity ride, raffles and more. To see some of the events already announced, please click here.
Best of luck Iain. See you soon. Paul and Valerie
