Jack Andrews, village business owner at The Garage in Milford on Sea high street, has run the London Marathon raising donations for the British Heart Foundation.
Jack chose to run on behalf of the British Heart Foundation because his son, Oscar, just before he was 6 months old, had to have emergency heart surgery in 2021. This was due to a congenital heart condition, which will require ongoing support.
Any parent will appreciate how traumatic that this will have been for the family, and by all accounts Oscar have been strong & brave throughout.
Jack said: "When Oscar was in hospital and we sat by his bed feeling useless. We were able to look up his condition on the British Heart Foundation website and it really helped us to understand more about the situation we found our family in. Going forward, I am passionate about the British Heart Foundation's funding for research, development and support to children’s heart conditions and surgery. They really do fabulous work to save lives and support families."
I very much enjoyed the first half, I was able to see my wife Emma, my son Oscar and my in-laws on tower bridge I stopped briefly to give Oscar a hug. From twenty miles I felt drained and it becomes a mental fight to push the last part.
The end is huge so much energy from all spectators, I saw my Mum, Emma and Oscar just before the finish this gave me strength to finish smiling."
Jack has a Just Giving Page for anyone who would like to sponsor, or see how much he has raised now, please click here.
