After 3 years refining his unique spice mixes, David Wykes chef/proprietor at the highly renowned Verveine Fishmarket Restaurant, is over the moon to offer the first 6 spice tins he has created to customers.
The unique spice blends come in individual tins and have been delicately balanced to suit fish, shellfish and vegetarian cookery.

Blend No.1 Gunpowder
Originally from southern India , our mix is less fiery and more aromatic , fantastic lightly dusted on fish or shellfish and lightly pan-fried.
Blend No.2 Ras al hanout
From the translation “top of the shop” this Northern African spice blend contains rose petals and lavender is fantastic roasted on vegetables and finished with preserved lemon.
Blend No.3 Za’atar
A delicate Middle Eastern blend of sumac, sesame seeds and herbs delicious with flatbreads, salads of sprinkled over cooked shellfish/fish.
Blend No.4 Hazelnut dukkah
An Egyptian blend of Roasted hazelnuts, cumin seeds and coriander seeds ,wonderful on salads and molasses roasted trout.
Blend No.5 Chip spice
A Lebanese style spice mix based on smoked paprika and ground cumin which is best suited on fried, sautéed potatoes/root vegetable.
Blend No.6 Shawarma
An historical Turkish blend of cinnamon, fenugreek and cardamon pods ,make a paste with some neutral oil ,delicious on roasted celeriac and field mushrooms.
