The Environment Agency, in partnership with New Forest District Council, Hampshire County Council, Natural England and JBA Consulting are exploring a sustainable future for the coastal frontage between Hurst Spit and the town of Lymington in relation to all sources of flooding, and coastal erosion risk management. This will focus on the next 100 years to 2124.
The Hurst Spit to Lymington Strategy will assess the pressures facing this coastline now and in the future, and consider how best to respond to these challenges.
The aim is to have a completed Strategy by the end of 2024.
A dedicated website is now available and will be continually updated. The website is a worthwhile read and provides lots more information: www.hurstspit2lymington.co.uk
