Milford on Sea Gardeners’ Club celebrate 25 Years

Milford on Sea Gardeners’ Club recently celebrated their 25th year with a party for 63 members, past and present at Milford on Sea Community Centre.

The “posh” china was out and the splendid cream tea was provided by Oakhaven catering services.

Old photographs from the club's archives were on display on boards and members did the celebration proud by bringing flowers to decorate the front of the stage, no mean feat given the drought conditions we have been experiencing .

Founder members and past Chairs, Jan England and Jenny Spenser, attended and Sue Crabb, the current chair was there to help them cut the magnificent cake, baked and decorated by one of the club's committee members.

Raffle prizes were generously donated by local businesses and the raffle raised £134 for Club charities, so a very big thank you to them.

All in all, it was a lovely event which ran exactly to plan with the help of a fabulous team of helpers.

Here’s hoping the Club will still be going strong for the 30th anniversary!

About Milford Gardeners' Club

Milford Gardeners' Club began life 25 years ago in 1997.

The club exists for the gardeners of Milford on Sea, providing a succession of interesting speakers and demonstrations for members. They also function as a social and meeting place for like-minded gardeners and everyone is welcome to visit.

Meetings are normally held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm in Milford Community Centre, Sea Road SO41 0PH.

The club is non-profit making and any events that raise money support local charities. Over the years over £35,000 has been raised and some of the recipients have been Oakhaven Hospice, First Opportunities, Countryside Education Trust, Rose Road, Mayfield Nurseries, Honeypot, Roundabout, Furzey Gardens, Practical Action, Spana, British Kidney Association, Milford Conservation Volunteers, Barry Phillips Youth Trust, Milford Community Library and Bumblebee Conservation Trust. The club committee are eternally grateful for the help and support given by the members to making this Club such a success.
