Results of YOUR+HEALTH Survey

As you may be aware, the Milford on Sea League of Friends conducted a YOUR+HEALTH Survey in recent months and the results can now be published.

The response for all areas of the community to this important survey on the future of health services in Milford on Sea was nothing short of outstanding.

The survey was completed by 1,485 local residents, which represents around a third of the Milford on Sea adult community. The aim of the eight-week study was to find out what residents wanted most from their Health Centre.  Top of the wish list with a vote of 91% and 92% respectively was a pharmacy and the availability locally of blood tests.  A number of services were proposed by those surveyed which included physiotherapy, mental health clinics and women’s health services.  The full results are available at: www.HealthHub-milfordlof.co.uk.

According to Paul Highett-Smith of the League of Friends Health Hub; ‘The results are a robust representation of what people would like to see provided by their medical centre. The next steps are to discuss the findings of the YOUR+HEALTH SURVEY with the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and we will keep the local community informed of progress.’

About the YOUR+HEALTH Survey

The brief survey, initiated by the the League of Friends, asked for your views on the future of the Milford on Sea War Memorial Hospital.

There is a lot of history and emotion regarding The War Memorial site. Local people wanted a war memorial to help everyone remember those who served and lost their lives in WW1. It was decided that the hospital was the best way to achieve this.

The hospital hasn’t been a working hospital for over fourteen years, and has long been overtaken by the centres of healthcare excellence found at Southampton, Lymington and Bournemouth.

The aim of the survey is to understand your current and future healthcare needs to help achieve improved access to sustainable additional local health services.

One of the ways the League of Friends will be helping the community is by discussing with the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group how local needs of the population can be met.

  1. I am wondering what is going to happen to our War Memorial Hospital ? My parents were both patients in this hospital in the 1950s and 1980s . it was a lovely hospital and I am sad that it may soon be demolished , probably being replaced by housing like everything else in including the village Police House and now Lymington Police Station . I signed a petition about the future of the Hospital but have heard nothing about the current plans .

  2. Hi Marion, The League of friends are very actively involved in discussing the future of Milford Hospital with the NHS. No formal proposals or decisions have yet been made, but when they are we will publish the information on this news website. The aim is to keep and enhance medical services in the village.
It is also worth keeping an eye on www.healthhub-milfordlof.co.uk.

  3. PS: As far as I am aware, there are no plans to demolish the hospital. The building is a 'War Memorial' and important asset to the village.
