NCF Visit to Uganda Presentation

The Friends of NCF have an afternoon presentation of the recent NCF Visit to Uganda coming soon. The presentation is on Saturday 1st March from 2.30pm to 4pm in All Saints' Church Hall.

Local crafts being made
Matthew & Nicola Brearley will let people know of their experiences when visiting the school and the Ugandan slum community the Milford on Sea charity supports.

Whilst you enjoy the afternoon, there will also be a free cup of African tea and homemade cake.

Everyone is welcome to go along and the event is free.

About Friends of NCF

In 2007 the founders of Friends of NCF, Steve and Liz Jennings went to Kampala. Whilst there they met some inspirational local Ugandans who had begun a small mission teaching slum children and supporting their families. They returned home determined to help the children and families living in the slum community in Namuwongo and ‘Friends’ was born.


Support started with the sponsorship of children in secondary education and then developed into fundraising for a school building. As the project continued to grow, ‘Friends’ began to finance a feeding programme to help the undernourished children receive a meal during their school day.

Friends of NCF also provide a free newsletter for moral or financial supporters, and welcome anyone wishing to do a fundraising event or challenge. To find out more please contact Matthew at: office@friendsofncf.org

Pop Up Charity Shop Sale on Saturday

The Bridge are holding a Pop Up Charity Shop Sale from 9.30am to 1.30pm this Saturday 22nd February 2025.

The End of Season Sale will feature stock from the two village Charity Shops and there will be lots of bargains!

Entry is free, and The Bridge Cafe will be open for drinks, snacks and homemade cake. 

Every pound raised goes towards the running costs of The Bridge and the things they do to support our community.

M3 Kids Musical Theatre Workshop at the Bridge

M3 are hosting a Kids Musical Theatre Workshop on Monday 17th February 2025 from 2 to 4pm in the Bridge. 

The afternoon is ideal for children aged 4-12 and their families.

If you are looking for a fun-filled activity to keep the kids entertained this half-term, and your kids love to sing, dance or act, then this is the perfect workshop for them.

In celebration of the brand-new Youth Theatre launching at The Bridge on 25th February 2025, Christine Mulgrew, the founder of Total Voice Choir, will introduce your young stars to the wonderful world of Musical Theatre in this special two-hour workshop.

The café will be open with refreshments and snacks available for purchase.

Parents are welcome to use the free Wi-Fi if needing to work remotely.

About M3 (Milford Monday Madness)

M3 was launched in the summer of 2022 with the purpose to provide activities for the age group between the Seahorse Community Stay & Play Group and Youth Club.

The series included seasonal celebrations, workshops, and performances, primarily aimed at children aged 4 to 10 years who attend along with their families.

The events run every Monday in the Summer Holidays (except bank holidays) and on other special dates throughout the year.

The series is programmed by a small team of three (all parents at Milford on Sea Primary School) and the days are supported by both parent volunteers and volunteers from the Bridge Team.

In 2023, M3 provided magic, music, movies, craft, and storybook making sessions, in addition to the Easter, Christmas, Halloween and Summer Celebrations.

About The Wash House

The Wash House loves great craft beer, and stocks a wide range of ales from talented local brewers. There are also, ciders, gins, wines and a great choice of organic soft drinks.

Having opened in the former village launderette in July 2017, they are constantly on the look-out for new craft ales to offer the beer lovers. CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) constantly list The Wash House in Milford on Sea in their The Good Beer Guide.

Meet and listen to the first single from an exciting local band: The Downtons

The Downtons are a young and exciting local band, with Milford on Sea band members, and who are delighted to have just released their first single, Distaste.

Described as an indie rock band, they have become known along the South Coast for their energetic live performances, which include memorable hooks and clever lyricism. Together this gives them a unique blend of rock and alternative genres.

The band consists of two Milford on Sea lads; Jacob Black, son of Mandy from Amanda Black Cakes, and another talented guitarist from the village, Rylee Wade.

They are joined by Bunnie Greenhalgh from Lymington who plays the drums, and singer, Dylan Rees-Coshan from Christchurch.

The band have a solid following across their generation, which continues to grow as they gig wherever they get the chance.
