His career has spanned across the spectrums of both music and continents, and he has developed a highly individual style of playing which lends itself to Blues, Swing, Jazz, Funk, Rock and Indie.

Retro Grooves at The Wash House

Retro Grooves spin the vinyl at The Wash House Every Last Sunday in the Month from 5pm to 8pm. 

Come along to an evening of the most popular retro classics, anthems, and party music, as John plays tracks from the best bands of the 1960s to late 1980s. 

As Retro Grooves, the vinyl only mobile discothèque, spin the turntables, all music is played in classic style on original vinyl with authentic sounds from the eras. A mix of pop, soul, Motown, disco, funk, and R&B tracks ensure a good time and bring back great memories.

At the same time, enjoy a drink as you step back in time with classic retro sounds from your past.

About The Wash House

The Wash House loves great craft beer, and stocks a wide range of ales from talented local brewers. There are also, ciders, gins, wines and a great choice of organic soft drinks.

Having opened in the former village launderette in July 2017, they are constantly on the look-out for new craft ales to offer the beer lovers. CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) constantly list The Wash House in Milford on Sea in their The Good Beer Guide.

This cosy venue also holds quiz nights, live music, DJ's with classic tunes, and rocking party nights, so it is always worth keeping an eye on their Facebook page to see what is happening.

Free Board Game Afternoon at The Bridge

The Bridge are hosting a Free Board Game Afternoon at 2pm on Wednesday 19th June 2024 from 2pm to 4pm. This is a Free Drop In event which takes place on the third Wednesday of every month.


Come and have fun whilst playing a range of board games for 2 or more players, and at the same time have a coffee or cake in the Bridge Cafe.

The afternoon is free to attend, and a great way to make some new friends while you play!

Simon's Silent Auction for a Cruise

Milford on Sea's GB Para athlete, Simon Heaps is holding a Silent Auction at a fundraiser for his international table tennis competitions, and one his main sponsors, MSC Cruises, have generously donated a 7 day cruise.

The cruise is for two onboard the MSC Virtuosa, sailing from Southampton with a balcony cabin to any destination on any date until the end of 2025.

About Simon Heaps

Simon's career in table tennis spans back to when he made his England Junior debut at the age of 12, going on to represent England at the junior level on many occasions. He was also crowned European Cadet Champion in 1970.

Today, Simon is 68 and a double amputee due to long term Type 1 Diabetes, having lost his right leg in 2019, followed by his left leg in 2022. Although, this does not stop him pursuing his table tennis dream as a para wheelchair athlete.

All of Simon's appearances for Great Britain are on a self funding basis, and he always welcomes, and is grateful for, any type of support, such as; company sponsors, charitable donations, raffles and draw prizes.

New Argentine Tango Classes on Monday Evenings

If you like to get your dancing shoes on, then you may be interested in the new Argentine Tango Classes starting on Monday 1st July 2024 in All Saints Church Hall, Milford on Sea.

Beginners or advanced dancers are all welcome. 

The classes are being run by Tracey and Leonardo Acosta from Tango Fandango Academy who are passionate about teaching the improvisational style of Argentine Tango.

The class will run on Mondays from 7.30pm to 8.30pm with practice until 9.30pm. There is a short break in August.

About Tango Fandango Academy

Tango Fandango is the perfect choice for anyone looking to learn Argentine Tango and have fun doing it. With Leo and Tracey's combined years of experience, you’ll receive excellent instruction from knowledgeable instructors who make learning fun for students of all ages.

Leo and Tracey teach the social, improvised Argentine Tango. They have their own teaching methodology which makes it fun to learn and understand the basics of Tango.

Leo is from Buenos Aires and from a Tango family so he has danced Tango since a young boy. Tracey has danced Tango for over 20 years but has been taught exclusively by Leo for the last 15 years.

They are one of the few teaching couples in the UK to be able to teach and dance all the styles of Argentine Tango: Canyengue / Orillero / Milonguero / Tango Salon / Nuevo and all the rhythms: Tango / Tango Vals / Tango Milonga / Tango Foxtrot.

Their methodology, is explained in their newly revised book 'The ABC of Argentine Tango', which is unique in the Tango community. It consists of 72 pages of technique and detailed explanation and costs £15 per copy plus postage.

Emma is a local singer, songwriter, guitarist & musical theatre performer. She played the part of Doralee in ‘9 to 5 The Musical’ at The Regent Theatre.

She is a favourite every time she performs in the village, and she will have you glued to every word in an electric mix of contemporary songs.



Tuesday 20th August 2024: South African Wine Night

The South African evening will be hosted by Ronda Estate in Stellenbosch.

Taste wines from Guardian Peak and Rust en Vrede with food pairings for each wine.

Large Turnout for MG New Forest Run at South Lawn Hotel

A large turnout of classic MG cars from across many eras arrived at South Lawn Hotel on Sunday 2nd June 2024 as part of the 24th New Forest Run. 

This annual event is organised by the Southampton & New Forest MG Owners' Club, and following completing their annual rally, the cars arrived at South Lawn Hotel to enjoy an afternoon cream tea on a sunny early summer afternoon.



The New Forest Run starts at the War Memorial Village Hall, East Boldre and ends at South Lawn Hotel, Milford on Sea for an afternoon cream tea. 

Before they arrive, the MG drivers cover approximately 75 miles of beautiful countryside, wildlife, peace and tranquillity. 

The rally entry is limited to 200 cars, so a lot of MG cars from all eras participate.

The Salts performing at Folk at The Bridge

This month, Folk at the Bridge is on Thursday 13th June 2024 from 7.30pm. The evening is Bill Hesp and this month’s guests are The Salts.

The Salts are a co-operative of seasoned musicians, creating what is fast becoming one of the most exciting and energetic folk concepts of recent times. Their sound has been described as '21st century folk fires a respectful broadside at the traditional'. 

With their own unique sound that mixes well written original compositions alongside classic traditional tunes, it’s a guaranteed blast. 

Their debut album ‘She Rises’ and now their second album ‘Brave’ are receiving rave reviews across the board.

Talk on Lymington Harbour and the Saltwater Marshes

There is an interesting Talk on Lymington Harbour and the Saltwater Marshes by Captain Alison Towler, chair of the Harbour Commissioners at 7.30pm this Friday, 7th June 2024.

Whilst not in the village, the talk is about our local area, and could be of interest to Milford on Sea villagers. The talk will be held in Lymington Baptist Church and is organised by the Friends of St. Barbe Museum.

Entry is £5 payable on the door.
