Takeaway Offers at Milford Music Festival

Ray's Italian Kitchen and Saltwater in Milford on Sea High Street are both running special takeaway menus for the Milford on Sea Music Festival.

There will also be takeaway options on the village green, including No64 Pizzas, and of course plenty of other places to eat as you will see on the link at the bottom of this page.



Saltwater will be open for inside dining until 1pm on Friday (21st July - Booking suggested as very busy.) Then, for the whole festival weekend starting at 5pm on Friday, there is a takeaway menu with soft Mexican taco wrap.

New Kid's Menu at Ray's Italian Kitchen

Ray's Italian Kitchen is a great venue for all of the family, and their new kids menu, with gluten and dairy free menu options, is available for the little ones to enjoy in the restaurant or courtyard garden.

There is truly something for everyone in Ray's Italian Kitchen, with their restaurant, takeaway and delicatessen options. Delicious, whatever you choose!

PS: If you have a well-behaved dog, they are welcome in Rays Italian courtyard garden in the daytime via the side entrance.

Ray’s Italian Kitchen opened in December 2018 and is owned and managed by local restaurateur, Stacey Crouch. Located in the heart of Milford on Sea, the Restaurant, Takeaway and Delicatessen is a place not to be missed for anyone living in or visiting Milford on Sea.

Lovingly named after Stacey’s father, Ray’s Italian Kitchen offers relaxed and sophisticated dining options throughout the day. 

Delicatessen: In 2021 the delicatessen with a wonderful range of Italian ingredients, and hot & cold sweet & savoury treats to enjoy at home, on the beach or on the village green was added.

Restaurant & Cafe: The restaurant is open as a cafe during the day, serving breakfast, brunch and lunch with an Italian twist.

In the evening there is an extensive and tasty a la carte menu full of home-made Italian dishes with vegan and gluten & dairy free options. All of the dishes are carefully selected to be big on flavour and taste with the option of a 'Small Plate' grazing menu for sharing. To tempt you further, there is also a naughty, but delicious dessert menu. To compliment your meal, there is also a comprehensive wine list.

Every detail of the restaurant has been carefully selected by Stacey, down to the sophisticated interior in gold and blue tones, creating a place for eating, drinking, relaxing, talking and sharing.

Courtyard Garden: Alfresco dining can also be enjoyed in the warmer months in the sun-soaked courtyard, where the comprehensive menu can be enjoyed during the day and evening. Well-behaved dogs welcome in the daytime via the side entrance. 

Takeaway: If you would rather eat at home, there are pizza and pasta meals that you can order and enjoy as a takeaway at home, on the beach or on the village green.

Watch Rolex Fastnet Race from Hurst Castle

Visit Hurst Castle for a fantastic vantage point to take in the sights and sounds of the Rolex Fastnet Race on Saturday 22nd July, as 400+ yachts of various sizes and classes whiz by!

This biennial offshore yacht race is one of the most famous and challenging yacht races in the world, with around 400 yachts of various sizes and classes taking part. 

It is also one of those rare events where weekend sailors can truly take on the professionals.

The race is a 605 mile sail from Cowes, Isle of Wight, to Cherbourg, via the Fastnet Rock off southern Ireland and back to Plymouth.

It is a sight, and sound not to be missed!

The race starts at 1pm so ensure you allow enough time to get to the castle and find a spot to watch it!

About The Wash House

The Wash House loves great beer, and stocking ales from talented local brewers. There are also, ciders, gins, wines and a great choice of organic soft drinks.

Having opened in the former village launderette in July 2017, they are constantly on the look-out for new craft ales to offer the beer lovers. CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) constantly list The Wash House in Milford on Sea in their The Good Beer Guide.

This cosy venue also holds live music, DJ's with classic tunes, and rocking party nights, so it is always worth keeping an eye on their Facebook page to see what is happening.

Dogs and children are welcome in the bar, and there is even chest of games to keep the kids amused.

Josh takes Senior Football Management Position

Josh Mantock, a well known local community personality, who has held numerous influential roles at Milford on Sea Youth Football Club and been an important part of the club's success, has been appointed the Under-23s Manager at Bashley FC for the 2023/24 campaign.

Whilst continuing his roles at Milford on Sea Youth Football Club, Josh has for the past few years also held significant positions at Bashley FC, most recently as club secretary.


In February 2023, Josh was instrumental in forming an official partnership with the New Forest Football Academy, Bashley FC, and partner club Milford on Sea Youth FC. This innovative association has the aim to develop local football talent in the New Forest area.

In July 2022, Former Milford on Sea Youth FC and New Forest Football Academy player Eddie Beach signed a 3-year professional contract with Chelsea FC. He was the official first arrival under the new ownership at Stamford Bridge.

Milford on Sea Youth Football Club commented:

"Josh is a huge part of our football club, starting and developing many of our youth teams. He has recently seen the transition of our U16s to U18s level including some of them playing in the Bashley Football Club's First Team friendlies. He eats, breathes and lives football and helps and supports everyone in our club. We cannot congratulate Josh enough and wish him every success with Bashley FC U23s and Bashley U18s. Luckily, he is still continuing his role at Milford on Sea Youth FC, we are all lucky to have him."

Pleasure Grounds Bridge and Boardwalk fully reopen

Chris Mabey, along with his trusty companion Archie, have posted some more pictures showing that the long anticipated Pleasure Grounds Bridge and Boardwalk repairs have now been completed and fully reopened.

As Chris says; "It’s a fabulous construction and a credit to all those involved."

The boardwalk runs from the Pleasure Grounds (just off Studland Common) to Blackbush Road, then through Sharvells Copse to Sharvells Road in Milford on Sea.

"Absolutely amazing, was staying close by and visited pretty much everyday, chocolate orange cake is probably the best I've ever tasted!"

Summer School of Comedy for Kids

The Summer School of Comedy for Kids will be taking place at The Bridge (Formerly Milford on Sea Community Centre) from 10am to 1.30pm on Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th July 2023.

Another course will also be held on Thursday 24th & Friday 25th August 2023 at All Saints' Church Hall.

The sessions will explore improvisation and character role play through comedy. Encouraging all the children to have the confidence through playing and performing in front of their peers without them knowing they’ve done so.

Ideal for all ages up to 13 years old.

£25 per day. Please bring laughter, a packed lunch and water.

About School of Comedy

School of Comedy teaches children the art of improvisation, sketch & stand up comedy.

Set up by Laura Lawson and Tara Carr in 2005, SOC encourages children to explore their own unique brand of improv, sketch and character comedy. Laura took the original troupe to the Edinburgh Festival in 2007 where they were given a Channel 4 pilot, followed by two hit E4 series.

School of Comedy was never really about the television. It was about the children loving the club and encouraging them to raise the bar through an anarchic, liberating workshops. not to mention being able to perform on stage making people laugh, creating exciting new ideas, and most importantly, watching their confidence grow.

About Chloe Lawson Studio

Chloé was formerly a graphic designer for both agencies and in-house; Chloé led the website design team for Urban Outfitters Europe and was the Art Director for a Singapore-based luxury and philanthropic publication; Billionaire.

After a 15 year career as a graphic designer the urge to focus on personal projects took over, and now Chloé is pursuing her passion to create her own artwork, taking inspiration from daily life, capturing observations in a fun, witty and playful way.

She also has a keen interest in astrology.

Having escaped London in the midst of lockdown in 2020, she now resides in Milford on Sea, with her husband, two young kids, and a crazy Cockapoo called ‘Woody’.

Britain's Best Beach Huts visit Milford on Sea

Milford on Sea beach huts recently featured in Episode 3 of the Channel 4 Britain's Best Beach Huts series.

The programme is hosted by Jay Blades (The Repair Shop) and interior design fanatic Laura Jackson, as they visit Britain's coastline exploring quirky coastal cubbyholes to half-a-million-pound hideaways.

The beach huts on Milford on Sea Promenade were completed in May 2017. This was three years after the 80mph+ winds tore down the original Milford on Sea beach huts in the Valentine's Day Storm in 2014.

The architects, Snug from Totton, Southampton, designed and oversaw this multi-award winning project. The 119 new beach huts now form a new seawall and that is designed to resist a 1-in-200 year storm event.

New Blood Test Service in village

Good news for those needing blood tests in Milford on Sea!

From Monday, a new phlebotomy clinic will be run by New Forest Pharmacy and will take place in the hearing centre in the Milford on Sea War Memorial Hospital. 

The clinic will be open to anyone aged 16 or over who has been asked to take a blood test and has the necessary medical paperwork. Initially the clinic will run only on Mondays but will be extended to five days a week through the coming months.

Chair of the Milford on Sea League of Friends Health Hub, Mary Rutherford, said this is great news for the people of Milford. 

The survey which the Health Hub commissioned in 2022 identified the provision of locally provided blood tests to be a service of ‘great importance’ to our local community. We are delighted to report we have been listened to.

Interim Deputy Hampshire Place Director, Catherine Bowell, added: “This service is coming into place following feedback from residents. “This is wonderful news for patients, who will receive blood testing services more locally and in a familiar place.”

Mandy judging at New Forest County Show

Talented Milford on Sea cake maker, Mandy Black of Elmsleigh Cakes is currently a cake judge at the New Forest & Hampshire County Show.

This is a worthy recognition of her talents as a baker and cake artist, and follows on from when in 2022 (and again in 2023), Mandy had a nice surprise, when she discovered that she had been recognised as one of the Top Three Cake Makers in the New Forest.

The cake tent at the show will also have a display of some of Mandy's spectacular wedding cake designs.


Elmsleigh Cakes can provide Bespoke Cakes and Cheese Towers for all occasions, such as for a wedding, party, or any other celebration.

Cheese Towers are now very popular with any large gathering. After all, who doesn't love cheese!
