Choose How to Volunteer at Hurst Castle

Have you got some spare time and are thinking of volunteering in 2025? Then take a look at the three volunteer groups you could get involved with at Hurst Castle.

The Friends of Hurst Castle are a proactive local community group engaged in various activities, from assisting with improving the castle and it's artefacts to welcoming visitors and funding ongoing projects.

The Milford on Sea Historical Record Society, one of the nation's oldest local history societies, takes part in research about the castle's vast history to enrich knowledge and castle interpretation now and for the future.

Finally there's a small team from the Association of Lighthouse Keepers, who voluntarily contribute their ideas for new lighthouse-related displays for visitors whilst also taking care of the refurbishment and maintenance of the two Lighthouse Museum Rooms.

If you are interested in any of the volunteer groups and you would like to find out some more information then please contact the Friends of Hurst Castle in the first instance; contact details can be found on the website: www.hurstcastle.co.uk/friends-of-hurst-castle.

About the Friends of Hurst Castle

The Friends are a local support group to Hurst Castle who are also always happy to welcome new friends and volunteers.

Members support Hurst Castle with their membership fees. Some members provide hands-on help in any way they can, which over the years has included enhancement of the building, mounting information panels and displays, guiding visitors and research.

There is also an active social programme, and a regular newsletter; Hurst Tidings, which has published over 100 editions. As well as news about the castle, it features articles that range from history to the environment, as well as coverage of activities and events organised for all members to enjoy.
