As an ex-scout leader (many years ago) after about 10 years of scouting, I was surprised to see no mention of Senior Scouts. Do they still exist. It was the after 15s in my day. I well recall a night hike in the winter of 1962/63 over and through deep drifts of snow in the North Lincolnshire wolds near Caistor. I noticed one of the senior scouts missing after s short while. We found him sitting in the cab of a snowplough completely buried by the snow in a deep road cutting quite unharmed. The hot tea from our flasks imbibed while burrowed into a large haystack on top of the wolds was a life-saver. We actually did 7 miles that night..all safe and sound. We had made sure everyone who needed to be informed of our whereabouts was. I doubt if 'elf and safety would even let us consider it today. This was in the 1960s.
