Inflatable Yellow Duck Sparks 999 Rescue

A recent article in the Advertiser & Times by Chris March, reported on a 999 call made in the early evening last Saturday for a ‘person in water’ near the Needles Eye CafĂ©.

The emergency call was made with good intent, and the RNLI  lifeboat and coastguard teams from Lymington and Mudeford were launched within nine minutes. A rescue helicopter also joined the search.

Ultimately the search only turned up the yellow duck, tree branches and fishing pots, and the rescue mission was stood down.

Nice to know the emergency services are there for whenever someone's in trouble. Even though sometimes it is just an inflatable duck!
