Milford on Sea has a young 15 year old Karate champion, Autumn Fry, and her dream is to become a world champion.
Autumn's passion is Karate, or to be more specific ‘Kumite’, a competitive sport karate which involves sparring an opponent and scoring with a series of punches and kicks to the head and body.
She is currently under the instruction of Sensei Jamie Jewell and a member of the Wadokai England National Squad, and the England Karate Federation National Squad where she has received 2 caps for England to date.
Autumn's proudest moment so far was winning Gold for England, at the Commonwealth Championships in Birmingham in 2022.
Her parents; Andrea and Rod Fry who also live in Milford on Sea have supported her in every way they can, and she get no other funding to compete.
Autumn commented: "Despite my parents working more hours in a week than there are, for me to continue we need to look for potential sponsorship and fundraising opportunities, as costs are just not sustainable. All kit, training, travel and accommodation costs are met solely by my family. In 2023 alone the expectation for me to progress means a total of 9 international competitions, 8 UK competitions, plus fortnightly trainings in Birmingham as well as my local club in Totton 4-5 days a week. Costs are steep and will run into many thousands this year alone."
Autumn is therefore looking for a generous individual or local businesses who may be keen to sponsor a young local athlete.
In return, she can advertise your company logo, or name on her kit bag whilst travelling, mention your company in her social media posts when competing, or have photographs for your advertising as appropriate.
If you can help Autumn towards her dream to one day be World Karate Champion, please contact her parents Andrea and Rod on:
