Christmas Dining in Milford on Sea

Freedom to Learn supported by Folk Performance

Bruce and Bob Clitherow, the brilliant Milford on Sea folk singing brothers, have decided to forgo their performance fee to help to support their favourite village charity when they entertain the audience at the Folk at The Centre on Thursday 9th March

Bruce and Bob have delighted Folk Club audiences in the past and they have been ‘bribed’ to be guest artists in March. ‘Bribed’ is perhaps too a strong a word..., but they have agreed to appear with the assurance that any monies, in lieu of a fee, will be donated to a charity close to their hearts, - that is their family’s special local charity Freedom to Learn. Run by Joey Owen.

More about the Freedom to Learn Charity

Freedom to Learn is a Milford on Sea based charity run by Joey Owen. The charity works to provide the opportunity of education to children from some of the remotest regions of the Himalayas and South Asia.

Freedom to Learn improves the quality of, and access to, education amongst remote communities in Nepal.

They do this by working with local children to overcome any obstacles that might prohibit them from attending school. For example, for children living in rural provinces, something as simple as a bicycle can change the course of their lives – offering them a viable way of travelling to and from school every day.

We work with the schools themselves, to help them deliver the best possible standard of education – through teacher training, international school twinning and the provision of vital educational equipment.
