MOSHRS launch Historical Research Library

Explore over 100 years of local history articles in the Historical Research Library!

Milford-on-Sea Historical Record Society [MOSHRS] has a ground-breaking project called “Local History Lives!” which will help you find out more about our village's local history. Check out this link.

Search the 150 local articles in the online Research Library - you may find your family or your house. Each article is available in a word searchable pdf file with the text readily convertible into a speech file.

The articles provide important insights into Milford’s history and as well as new leads for your local history research. Did you know about the connections between Milford and the Barings, the banking family? What about the links between Milford and the iron works at Sowley on the Beaulieu estate? You may wish to find out what really happened in Milford on Sea during the Civil War.

The project has been made possible through grants from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Hampshire Archives Trust, Hampshire County Council, and Milford-on-Sea Parish Council as well as a contribution from MOSHRS. It is also supported by volunteers from MOSHRS and Milton Heritage Society.
