Music Festival Wartime Talk & Classical Evening

The Milford on Sea Music & Arts Festival have announced that as special two-part evening will be taking place on Wednesday the 18th July and entrance will be free. (If you are feeling generous you can make a donation on the door.)

The evening starts in the Church Hall at 6.45pm to 8pm with an entertaining and informative talk from the Milford-on-Sea Historical Record Society on “Milford in the Great War”. this will bring this year’s festival theme of the "Poppy" into context. 

You can then move over to the church at 8pm, where Jonathan James of  the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra will take you on a whistle-stop tour of 250 years of classical music, from medieval monks to modern masterpieces. This will include fun illustrations on the piano and a pot pourri of audio excerpts, this light-hearted presentation will help you join the dots in classical music history and introduce you to whole new world of listening. Suitable for both the complete novice and seasoned concert-goers. 

Jonathan James is a freelance music educator who works in venues around the country to explain classical and jazz music. He also works as a creative workshop leader and presenter for orchestras, including the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic and BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
