Support Sol as he represents Great Britain in Rowing

An impressive Milford on Sea Teenager, Sol Chamberlain-Hyde at just 17, has been selected by British Rowing to be one of only two U19 males in the GB Beach Sprints Team.

An exciting new format of rowing and one which is being introduced in the Commonwealth Games in 2026 and the Olympics in 2028, Beach Sprints.

This racing involves running to the boat, navigating a coastal slalom rowing course and sprinting from the boat to the finishing flag on the beach. Skilful sculling, power, navigation, quick-thinking and nimble running are all part of the successful speedy package and as the youngest member of the GB team, Sol demonstrates them all.

Selected by Tom Pattichis, the British Rowing Olympic Pathway Coach, Sol shows a lot of potential, winning the English U19 Beach Sprints Championships and being jointly crowned the winner of the Four Nations Championships (England, Scotland, Wales and Jersey) this year.

He has recently returned from Gdansk, Poland, where having only been in a boat a handful of times with his newly selected partner, Leah (18 from Evesham), he successfully placed fourth in the U19 mixed doubles at the European Championships in June 2024.

With a full summer of training with Leah ahead of him, Sol’s next major race is the World Championships in September 2024 in Italy.

In order to facilitate his journey Sol is looking for sponsorship, as whilst British Rowing support him entirely with coaching, Sol supplies his own blades and has to pay fully for his international trips in order to race and represent Great Britain.

In addition to his ‘A’ Levels, Sol is working for Solent Rib Charters and Lymington Sea Water Baths, but on top of training six days a week he is struggling to secure the time and the funding for his next stage of racing.
