Simon Heaps wins three medals at Jordan Para Championships

Milford on Sea's GB Para athlete, Simon Heaps has added another three international wheelchair table tennis medals to his extensive collection.

Most recently, he was the only Great Britain player to compete at the 2024 ITTF Al-Watani Para Championships in Amman, Jordan and came away with a Silver Medal in the Singles Tournament.

He then went on to win two Bronze Medals in both the Men’s and the Mixed Doubles in the same tournament. 

Being self-funded, Simon sends thanks to all of the individuals who have supported him with donations, sponsorship and good wishes. He is also very appreciative of his sponsors; Will Stone Gas Plumbing & Heating, Everton Hyundai, Macron, MS Underfloor Heating, MSC Cruises, The Douglas Bader Foundation, and MSC Cruises.

He also warmly thanks his Coach, Matt Ware, and is grateful for the love and support he continually gets from Pauline his wife and Charlotte their daughter.

About Simon Heaps

Simon's career in table tennis spans back to when he made his England Junior debut at the age of 12, going on to represent England at the junior level on many occasions. He was also crowned European Cadet Champion in 1970.

Today, Simon is 68 and a double amputee due to long term Type 1 Diabetes, having lost his right leg in 2019, followed by his left leg in 2022. Although, this does not stop him pursuing his table tennis dream as a para wheelchair athlete.

All of Simon's appearances for Great Britain are on a self funding basis and he always welcomes, and is grateful for, any type of support, such as; company sponsors, charitable donations, raffles and draw prizes.
