The Milford on Sea League of Friends Health Hub invites you to 'Meet Helen - Your Social Prescriber' on Thursday, 29th June at 11am in the Milford Memorial Hospital. This is a free event and open to all, and provides an opportunity to meet Helen and hear her talk about her work as a social scriber in the village.
We know of the pressures upon GPs and hospitals, the reduction of localised services, and sometimes we need extra support but are unsure who to ask.
In this ever changing health system, there is now ‘social prescribing’. It is an approach which connects people to activities, groups and services in the local community, meeting the individual’s practical, social and emotional needs; all of these affect our health and wellbeing. The social prescriber’s remit also covers support to existing and new community services.
Come and meet Helen Clarke who is the Social Prescriber based at Milford Surgery. She will talk about her role working with individuals seeking support and services and the groups and agencies who provide these. The NHS website describes the social prescribing link workers as ‘giving people time, focusing on what matters to me.’
