Ever fancied sea water swimming?

If the idea of sea water swimming at Milford on sea appeals to you, the courses below have recently been launched. Here are some details from their website:

Angus McChesney is an experienced local sea swimmer, qualified beach lifeguard and open water swim coach offering the people of Milford on Sea and surrounding areas the chance to learn more about swimming safely in the sea along our coast.

Spring courses start this weekend from The Lighthouse Bar & Restaurant, Hurst Road, Milford on Sea, SO41 0PY - For details please click here.

Angus courses aim to build your confidence as a sea swimmer. Learn how to understand the beach, tides, swell and weather whilst improving your sea swimming technique. Sessions are aimed at the transition from dipping to swimming; supervised by a qualified beach lifeguard.

A typical session takes one hour and comprises of  land based theory and warm up (approx. 30 min) and a swim and re-warm (approx. 30 min).

Suitable for: beginners. However, Angus recommends that participants first completes his Sea Bathing for Health course; a basic level of water confidence is required.

The lessons are run by Courtney Shannon with group and private sessions available. Her online posts say that all levels and ages are catered for, whether you are a proficient swimmer looking to take the next step, a complete beginner, or somewhere in between.

Courtney commented on Facebook; "I can teach you or your children to abandon your fears, learn to love the sea, read the waves, and enjoy the beautiful Milford coastline safely from the water.  I am scheduled to complete the STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming by mid June, but have 5 years of swim teaching and lifeguarding experience with the American Red Cross. There is an active, friendly, and very welcoming swimming community here.  Come learn a few skills that will get you swimming confidently in the sea."
