Alan Rayment added to Milford on Sea Famous Residents

Over the years we have continued to compile a record of Milford on Sea Famous Residents throughout history. Our most recent addition is Alan Rayment.

Alan was a professional Hampshire County Cricketer from 1948 to 1959, and a member of the Hampshire team that finished third, and then second, in the County Championship in 1956 and 1958.

He was also an accomplished dancer who set up dances and tuition sessions.

In his later 18 years, living in Victoria Road Milford on Sea, Alan's memoirs were published in two books, 'Punchy Through the Covers' and 'Punchy's Hampshire Years'.

Alan passed away in 2020 and is laid to rest at All Saints Churchyard in Milford on Sea.

In April 2014 we published an article entitled; 'Punchy Through the Covers' about the life and times of Alan Rayment a former Hampshire county cricketer, latterly a dancer and a resident of Milford on Sea. Click here to read more.

In 2020, The Advertiser & Times ran an article by Chris March which reported that Alan had sadly died in October 2020 aged 92, and provided highlights from his life.

However, the story does not end there...

Alan was in the process of writing what would have been three volumes of his autobiography when he passed away. To ensure his memories were not lost, Alan's loyal friends stepped in to completed his latest volume using Alan’s extensive notes and recorded interviews.
