You may have read our recent articles about the Random Wall beside The Lazy Lion and Lazy Lion Random Wall Mystery Resolved, as a result the story has taken another turn.
Local historian, Bob Braid, has sent us two photos of the front and back of Mrs Rickman’s Tea Rooms/Dolly’s Sweet Shop in High Street, Milford on Sea. The images are thought to date from the early 1960's and show the demolition of the shop front, and conversion of the building.
Interestingly, you can see from the pictures below that the original shop was converted into two individual cottages at 34 and 36 High Street, Milford on Sea.
Note:
It is believed that Mrs Rickman’s Tea Rooms/Dolly’s Sweet Shop was virtually knocked down and re-built by Gerrards in the early 1960s.
The pictures are taken from freeze frames in a Gerald Mogg video; he produced several that were a combination of cine film, video film, still photos and old postcards, filmed, then transferred onto VHS video tape and then transferred to DVD.
These archives are held by Milford on Sea Historical Record Society (MoSHRS)
